I think we have grades to make students work and try their best each day knowing that their actions can speak for themselves at time and can bite you in the but. Grades are used to prove to yourself and your parents that your hard work has paid off or that you need to work harder. They are also used to your benefit so if your parents see that you over the years have been struggling in specific classes they can get you help if necessary. Their purpose is mainly to keep you in line and aware of where you are on your school track. Yes, I think that grades are a result of your learning and an accurate reflection because they tell you if you need to ask for help on something and keep you aware. The result of the majority of the classes’ grades also helps teacher because if only one student gets an A that tells the teacher they need to re-teach the concepts. If you remember something new that is educational that means, to me that you have learned something.

Grades are to show our parents, and us that we are learning something in our classes. It also shows if we know the information or not. The purpose of grades is to see if we know the information that the teacher is giving us, and to see if we are motivation for our futures. The teacher is not just giving us homework so that we have more to do it is for our own good so that we can learn the information and have it suck in our heads. Plus when you do your homework, you know what you are doing because you may have a quiz on the information. Grades are an accurate reflection on our learning because if you are doing homework, doing good on quizzes and testes, it will show in your grades. And whenever you need help you can always go in and ask questions because that is why teachers are there, to help you.

The reason we have grades and the purpose is so we know if we have a good grade or a bad grade and so we know if we have to pull the grade up if it is bad. Learning looks like people that want to learn and that are interested in it. Also, I agree about what Dierdre said that grades are also to show your progress to yourself and to your parents.

The reason why we have grades is so that we can see how well or not so well we know a subject. That way we can see what we need improvment in and what we're ok with. When we learn it looks like determanation, and improvment in grades. You know you know some thing when it just cilks when your asked a question about it.

We have grades to tell how much we know about a certain subject. They tell us when we need to study more and without them, there would be people who decided that they weren't going to do that worksheet they were assigned because there would be no consequence. I think that they also show how much progress you've made. They tell you what you've learned. If you've only learned half the stuff or all of it. I think they are an accurate reflection of how much you know and have learned for the most part. Some people just haven't done the work and they lose points even though they know the stuff. Learning is when you can leave the classroom and say either "That was really good practice." or " I learned something new today." You know if you've learned something when you know something you didn't know before or if you can do something you couldn't do before.

dav1dj0sephI feel grades are to keep srudents on the right track. If we did not have grades students would not care and not study without them because there would be no consequence. Also I grades tell you what progress you have made and what need's to be worked on. I wnat to look back at school and say to myself, "wow!! I am glad I have pushed myself in class a to get to this point now." Work and grades pushes us to do our best and not just sit back and let the learning come to us but to go to learning and learn from our mistakes and ahieve our goals.

Grades hold a student accountable for the homework and evaluate how they are performing in the class. Grades are probably an accurate measure of most student's ability to learn. Although a few students don't do well on the homework and tests, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are not learning the material. Generally, an A in the class signifies that the student learned the material in the class and if the student got an F in the class it shows that they did not learn. The way I know if I learned is if I am asked a question, I would know the answer immediately.

I think that we have grades so that the kids can see how well they are doing in class. It also shows the teacher that she is donig a good job teaching. Grades keep kids doing there homework, if there weren't grades kids wouldn't do there home work nor would they even try. I do not think that grades are an accurate reflect of our learning. Some kids could have cheated to get that grade. When you cheat your not learning anything. When you do a test your showing what you know, so I think that a test is an accurate reflection of your learning. Learning looks like good grades and that the kid did a good job on his home work or test. That is how the teacher knows that she did a good job teaching. I know when I learn something when I do a good job on my tests.

We have grades for many reasons. They are there to show us our progress that we have made since the grading period stated. The purpose they serve is to tell us about how hard we are working and how much effort we are putting into school. No grades are not a reflection on your learning. We get to choose on how hard we want to try on a test or on homework. Grades don’t reflect our learning as much as people think they do. Learning looks like many things, hard work and performance. You know you have learned something when you can remember it and repeat it back to someone.

We have grades to reflect our achievement on a certain subject. I do agree with Pat and Cole that grades keep a student working hard. But, I think that grades have become too material. Nowadays, students are more concentrated on getting an A than learning the subject. The thought of an A tempts us to cheat and do whatever is necessary to get that A. The focus is no longer on learning. I also think that grades are not a good reflection on learning because a student might not be good at taking tests, or just doesn't do their homework. That doesn't mean that they haven't learned anything. I think that the focus should be to take pride in learning the subject rather than getting the A. I know that I have learned something when I can reference it en everyday life.

I believe that we have grades to help us see where we are in that class and to see if we need help on anything we have been assigned. Grades make you do the work and be rewarded with good grades, and if you dont do the work you get a bad grade which is a punishment for being lazy. Grades help you see where you stand in the class and they can help you get into the college that you wish to go to.

We have grades too keep us updated on how we are progressing in school.
They keep us striving to get them better. They let us know that we need to get better. They also let us know if we are going to the next grade level or not.
I do not think that grades are an accurate reflection of my learning because I could have a D in a class and still be learning about it, but not getting good enough grades on my homework or tests.
When you grow up and graduate high school and graduate college and become whatever you dreamed of becoming, that is what learning looks like.
You know you have learned something when you find something out and you look back and say that you learned something that day. Everyone learns something new every single day.

To me, good grades are like goals that I want to achieve. Without grades we would not know how we have done so we would not know what we need to improve on. When I do an assignment my goal is to get a good grade on it. The purpose of grades is to tell us how we did on something. From the grade we get we learn what to do next time.
Honestly, I think grades do somewhat reflect our learning however they don’t completely
reflect on our knowledge. When I learn something new I know it because I feel like I have accomplished something.

Grades measure to see if we know the material. We have grades so that we can see if we understand the information we are learing in class. I think grades are an accurate reflection of learning. Learning looks like everyone is paying attention and focused. You know you learned something when you can explain it too someone who doesn't know anything about it and they understand.

I think we have grades to meashure the knowledge we obtain in class. I do not, however, think that grades are an accurate reflection of learning because some people just don't do as well in the classroom even if they know the knowledge. I think that learning can not be seen but felt, you feel learning and you know when you have learned something. You know you have learned something because you can think about the knowledge you learned and you can remember it.

I think that grades are used to let you know how well you are understanding the information. If there were no grades we wouldn't be able to see how well we are learning in class. They are also used to tell the teacher is they need to try and teach something a different way so that everyone in the class will understand. I do think that grades reflect on how well you learning and i think that if your grades are poor you probbaly need to spend time trying to grasp the concept of the information. You have learned something if you can explain it well to anyone or if you know that you would be able to.

We have grades because it shows how well we do in that class and if we understand the material. I think grades are an accurate reflection of my learning because if I understand the material and study and do everything the teacher asks then I will have an A in that class. Learning looks like students listening to the teacher taking notes and not be disrespect ful. I know if I have learned something then I should do well on a test and have a good grade in that class.

I think we have grades to show us where we lie in a certain subject. They help us understand if we need help in a certain subject or if we are doing just fine. I think grades are an accurate reflection of your learning. If you are learning everything your spossed to you can get an A but when you fall behind because you dont get something then thats when you get the the C's and below ranges. You know you have learned something when you are getting A's and B's on tests and then in 5 years frrom that you still know what that thing is you learned about.

Grades, the reflection of our academic progress. We have grades so we can have something to shoot for, something to look forward to or dread. Grades purpose is to show us how we are doing in our classes, and to further push us to achieve better and better in academics.
But I do not think that grades are an accurate reflection of our learning! For example, you could have one of the smartest kids in the school, who learns alot in class, but fails to complete his homework. His grade wont be very good, but that doesnt mean that he hasnt learned anything in the subject that he is taking.
Learning looks like, in the simplest way possible, transforming a classroom of confused faces into a classroom of knowing faces.

we have grades to show our progress in class and our understanding of the work we are doing at the time. Grades purpose is to show our parents and ourselves along with our teachers how well we are doing and what we need to work on. Learing in something on the inside. You know what learning is when you walk alway knowing something you didn't know before. I guess you can see learning happening when a teacher is interacting with a student to help them understand something.

Grades are used to measure the effort you put forth in school. They show if you turn in your homework, study for tests, and all those good things.
They serve the purpose of showing how much you are trying and how much you care.
Grades can be an accurate reflection, but not necessarily how much you are learning. You easily could of learned a lot, but of been to lazy to do homework or try on tests.
You know you have learned something when you are able to explain it to someone else and they are able to understand what you're talking about.

We have grades to see where we have a gray area or need more help. I think they are definately a reflection of how your doing cause if you know the material, you will do good on assignments because teachers are not going to make the tests super hard about somethings you didn't even learn.
Learning looks like somone who is gaining knowledge either through a book, a lecture or a tv show etc. etc. etc. You know you have learned something when you feel ou could have an intelligent conversation about the toppic with somone.

I think grades are a reflection of how we are doing in school. They tell us weather or not we are able to go to the next grade or not. I do think grades are an accurate reflection of your learning. it is more of a range though; A=very good, B=good, but does not know all of the material, ect. To me when i know i learn is when i come home with an A on my paper, then i know my stuff.

I dont think grades are the best way to show how much someone knows. This being true i still think grades are needed because they show if someone is trying usually.
